Juniper Berry Essential Oil

Also known as simply Juniper Essential Oil.

Medicinal Use:
Juniper Berry Essential Oil is used in aromatherapy for symptomatic relief of acne; to relieve minor skin irritation, cuts, bruises, and burns; for symptomatic relief of eczema and dermatitis; as a nervine and calmative; and to help relieve joint and muscle pain associated with a sprain, strain, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Non-medicinal Use:
Calming and grounding.  Good for meditation and prayer.

Blends Well With:
Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Lavender, Rosemary

What is a Steam Distilled Essential Oil?
The plant material, in this case, the berry, is placed into a still; steam is then passed through, which causes the oil to vaporize, the mixture of steam and essential oil then passes through a series of cooling tubes in order to condense the mixture back to a liquid form.

This distillate is then traditionally collected in a Florentine flask which further separates the essential oil from the water-based hydrosol. Traditionally, the majority of essential oils are steam distilled.
